When to Go
Sweet Spot: June – September
Warm, dry, and lively — August brings the Semana Grande festival, and September brings the San Sebastián International Film Festival, one of Europe's most prestigious.
Late September's film festival crowds book the city solid — plan well ahead if that overlap interests you, or avoid it entirely for a quieter visit.
Getting There
Fly into Bilbao (BIO), about an hour's drive away, or Biarritz, France (BIQ), just across the border. Both are well-connected through Madrid, Barcelona, or major European hubs.
